I can't believe I didn't know that Steve Roach lives in the same town I do. Lucky Tucson. Even though I'm dogsitting and having a writer' retreat, I made room to go listen to this trailblazing master. La Rosa never disappoints, and the didgeridoo was fire. Boris asked if I wished I was on mushrooms while I was listening, but ambient music is always much more intoxicating to me than any substance I might put in my body still the dude next to me gave me a lollipop because he saw I didn't have a drink in my hand. 😂 I did not eat it. And after spending the day, listening to them, watching them in Pompeii, and playing their music. I am very relaxed. #takedelight

For the bourbon party, I made whiskey caramels. But they didn't set, so fun fact, you can put the caramels back into the sauce pan, reheat them up to the correct temperature, pour them again, and they will actually set. So now Boris and I have an 8 x 8 pan of whiskey caramels to get through. Wish us luck. #homeandbaking #whiskeycaramels #bakingrecovery #somuchsugar

It's so much fun creating a menu of sweet and savory dishes that all have bourbon in them. It's even more fun to share those things with friends! The bourbon was delicious as well! The other big food move was taking a pasta class with @johnrileystancato at @figstucson. We took home the dough we made in class and yesterday, for the first time in over 30 years, I made homemade pasta. We bought tickets for the grand opening @aguadecocomusic and @casadecalexico show right when they came out. La Rosa Tucson has had lots of soft openings, and we've been there for a lot of them, but this event was amazing--Tucson music played in Tucson. I love this town! Tucson Botanical Garden has a new Zen Gallery and Meditation Space next to the Zen Garden, a space that was planned long before their acquisition of Yume Japanese Gardens this past summer. The opening show in the Zen Gallery includes pieces from the museums collection of the works and ephemera of Manabu Saito. Being in the gardens as a storm made its way across the valley added some drama to the lovely early summer evening. #whyilovewhereilivetucson #tucsonbotanicalgardens #manabusaito #zengardens #meditationspaces

For the four years I've been partnered with @bbarvish, Thursday nights have been most consistently my nights. Which is perfect since Tap and Bottle generally has local live music on Thursday night. Tonight, I lucked out because the Century Room had an amazing gypsy jazz band from Bisbee, @juniperdjinn at 6:30 and Tap and Bottle had the lovely Steph and the Articles. Saturday dump--M., Bubbe, and I visited the retrospective at the Center for Creative Photography and saw amazing photographs, well curated, and Ansel Adams' hat and dodging tools. Then we hit The Etherton Gallery for the extraordinary @katebreakey show. Wandered my favorite Tucson 'hood, and stopped in at the newly reopened Coronet Cafe for curried carrot soup and a photo opportunity with water. Then, home to prepare for today's pizza gathering. Made cherry pistachio muffins, 12 boules of dough, hazelnut shortbread, and garlic confit and a mess in the kitchen which @bbarvish kindly cleaned up.
